OPNC Supports Renewable Energy by 2030

Intermountain Power Plant

At the Olympic Park Neighborhood Council meeting on November 4, 2019 the council voted on a resolution against building a gas powered plant and in support of evaluating moving to all renewable energy by 2030.

Currently, a third to a fifth of the energy consumed in Los Angeles is provided by a coal plant in Utah, the Intermountain Power Plant, which is scheduled to shut down in 2025. Although the City of Los Angeles is planning to shut down three gas plants locally, it is planning to replace the Utah plant with a gas powered plant.
