Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) Update – LADOT has released its report for the City’s speed safety camera program authorized under AB 645. Ten street segments in Council District 10 have been selected for potential camera installation using state criteria, including crash data, roadway design, and school proximity. The nearest ones to Olympic Park are:
- Olympic at LaBrea (Wilshire Crest Elementary)
- Olympic at Mariposa Ave
- Venice at Loyola High School
- Arlington at 20th
- Washington at 2nd
A 30-day public comment period opened February 11, 2026, and we encourage residents to review the report and share feedback.
More about the pilot and map of locations
When the camera systems are up and running later this year, they will automatically detect speeding violations and help generate citations. Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law in October 2023 that authorizes several cities throughout the state to pilot speed safety cameras. The number of cameras in each city is based on population, and L.A. has authority to install the systems at 125 locations throughout the city. The city looked at 550 miles of corridors that are already known to see speeding cars, where past interventions to tamp down on speeding haven’t been effective and where speeding has been determined to be the primary reason for collisions.
